A
few hints and "How-to"s
Both the long and short format are now
listed below.
Which one should I use?
That depends on a number of factors. Both have
advantages and disadvantages. In general the short
format takes care of a lot of the event combining you may
have to do before each meet. Many more age groups are
put together which allows for fuller heats and swimmers
going against those with closer times (but often a different
age). Take a look at the Event List below and you will
get the idea.
The downside is sometimes, with a smaller set of teams
competing, things feel like they are going too fast and the
coaches need to be ready to ask the starter for a 5 minute
pause.
For those using a timing system for the
first time (Dolphin) you will find it very difficult, if not
impossible, to deal with combining events once the meet
starts. Having a starter/ref who combines events, such
as relays, on the fly will put a huge damper on your day.
If you have concerns about combining events the short format
may work for you. Or get in touch with me and I will
give you a quick refresher on combining events. (or
check the How-to section above)
Scoring
For dual meets scoring should be set to 5-3-1 for individual
and 7-0 for relays
For Tri-Meets scoring should be set to
6-4-3-2-1 and 8-4-0
For both meets scoring limits should be
set to 2 per team/event for individual and 1 per team/event
for relays.

Instructions
The files above
are for Meet Manager 3.
In the information below
I tried to balance new users
with experienced.
If you need more information
than is here PLEASE let
me know as many others probably have the same question
and I can add a few lines to the website.
To save the template to MM3 –
Most computers
will ask if it is OK to download the file (or may block it).
The files posted were
scanned and checked for viruses.
However, you have any questions
please feel free to contact me.
Click on link.
When asked to “save” click
save/yes/OK (NOT "open").
Download and save to a location
you can find (My Documents, etc).
You will need to
"un-zip" the file, if it has not done so automatically.
Double click on zip folder or right click and "send-to" or
unzip.
At this point you can leave the file
where it is or copy and move it to wherever you keep your MM
files (MM defaults to "c:/swmeets3", but you can keep it
where ever you can find it, such as My Documents, etc)
Open MM
Click
“file-open/new”
Select the
template you want to use.
Once it opens
click “save-as” and type in the name of the meet you are
hosting (I try to include the teams and date so I can locate
them in the future (eg CRVvsWood070611).
Go to the
“Set-up” menu and click on “Meet set-up”.
Fill in the meet name (eg CRV
vs
Woodstock
07/06/11)
, location, and dates (age-up is the day of the meet).
The rest should already be
done. MM3 requires more information than MM2, like
City, State, etc.
**The scoring is set for dual meets with 5-3-1
(individual) and 7-0 (relays).
These will need to be adjusted
for tri-meets
in the set-up menus under “scoring
preference”.
Run your meet!
